Andarna is a gold feathertail, the young stage of a dragon. Guides generally call feathertails unsuitable for bonding, yet she chooses Violet Sorrengail and is described as the youngest dragon to choose a rider. Violet is the only rider with two dragons, Tairn and Andarna.

Spoilers: Iron Flame

Andarna is an irid, the seventh den that readers learn about later in the series. Fan guides say irids are pacifists who shift their scale color to blend in, and that Andarna is the only known irid bonded to a human.

Spoilers: Iron Flame

Sources disagree about her adult tail. One fan guide and some web summaries say scorpiontail, while another says morningstartail, so we list it as unsettled. A fan guide also places a long Dreamless Sleep in Iron Flame.
