Codagh is a black dragon with a swordtail, the long razor-edged tail built for slashing. Black is the rarest den, valued for intelligence and cunning.
The guides call him the largest and oldest dragon, and the only one bigger than Tairn. His rider is General Melgren, whose signet lets him see how battles will turn out.
